Employment Division Overview The employment division provides services to County Offices/Departments in the recruitment, selection and placement of applicants for Polk County Government employment. This function includes recruitment and screening, overseeing the implementation of legal mandates, conducting post employment training, and handling a variety of employment related problems. Polk County Government has a work force of nearly 1,100 and is the largest county in the state of Iowa. With the ever increasing population and demand for services, we regularly recruit for qualified applicants. The County offers employment in over 241 different job categories at a variety of levels from service/maintenance, skilled craft, clerical to professional, and provides promotional opportunities.
